Hamel
is the host of several Historical and unique attractions. Historical
Route 66 helped make Hamel the community it is today. On the mainstreet
of Hamel, travelers of the famous route get the chance to see the "Hamel
Barn", an example of the early highway advertisements for Meramec
Caverns. Also along the historic route 66, visitors come to see
the big blue neon cross in the steeple of St. Paul's Church, where they
get an oddly warm feeling from the cross.

A part of pioneer history can bee seen at the Hamel School Log Cabin.Designated
as a historical landmark in 1995, this original log cabin illustrates
early farm life.
